Biological Activity
Fully biologically active when compared to standard. The ED50 as determined by a cell proliferation assay using human TT medullary thyroid cancer cells is less than 10ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of >1.0×105IU/mg.

Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Reconstitute in 4mM HCl to a concentration of 0.1-1.0mg/ml. Stock solutions should be apportioned into working aliquots and stored at ≤-20℃. Further dilutions should be made in appropriate buffered solutions.

Background
Persephin belongs to the GDNF ligand subfamily of the TGF-beta superfamily. It promotes the survival and growth of central dopaminergic and motor neurons, and also is involved in kidney development. But persephin does not support survival of peripheral neurons.
