Trilayer PP/PE/PP
Celgard's proprietary trilayer technology is a key feature which differentiates Celgard® battery separators from those manufactured by other battery separator suppliers. This unique process capability allows Celgard to combine the inherent benefits of polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) membranes into a single flat-sheet lithium battery separator.

Excellent resistance to acids, bases, and most chemicals
Uniform pore structure with high chemical and thermal stability
Zero TD shrinkage for reduced internal shorting and improved high temperature dimensional stability
PP outer layers that provide oxidation resistance for excellent cycling & trickle charge performance
PE inner layer that provides high-speed shutdown capability
