2'-O-Methyltransferase is a highly efficient recombinant enzyme specifically designed to catalyze the methylation modification of RNA molecules at the 2'-oxygen position of specific nucleotides. In the preparation of mRNA vaccines and therapeutic RNA, it serves as a core tool enzyme for achieving precise and efficient co-transcriptional capping (Cap 1 structure formation), ensuring that RNA products meet high-end application standards for stability, translation efficiency, and immunogenicity.

The mRNA Cap 2´-O-Methyltransferase catalyzes the addition of a methyl group to the 2´-O position of the first nucleotide adjacent to the 5´ cap structure of RNA. This enzyme uses S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) as the methyl donor to convert Cap 0 to Cap 1.
The enzyme specifically recognizes RNA with an m7GpppN cap structure. It cannot catalyze RNA with 5´ ends containing pN, ppN, pppN, or GpppN. Capped RNA can be prepared either by in vitro transcription using cap analogs or by enzymatic capping using Vaccinia Virus Capping Enzyme.
