Tyrocidin A is a cyclic decapeptide with a head-to-tail arrangement produced by Bacillus brevis, belonging to the class of nonribosomal peptide antibiotics. Primarily functioning as an antibacterial agent (especially against Gram-positive bacteria), it constitutes the major component (40–60%) of the natural mixture "tyrothricin." Due to its pronounced cytotoxicity, it is restricted to topical use and cannot be administered systemically.
