Bioactivity

名称Torulene
描述Torulene (Torulin) is an orally active carotenoid with anti-cancer properties. It suppresses cell proliferation and induces apoptosis in tumor cells by acting through the mitochondrial pathway and downregulating androgen receptor expression. Torulene has potential applications in prostate cancer research.
体外活性Torulene (0-40 μM, 24 h) 以剂量依赖性方式抑制 LNCaP 和 PC-3 细胞增殖。Torulene (30 μM, 12, 24 和 48 h) 时间依赖性诱导了 LNCaP 和 PC-3 细胞凋亡，对雄激素敏感的 LNCaP 细胞凋亡更为显著。Torulene (10-40 μM, 24 h) 在 LNCaP 和 PC-3 细胞中降低线粒体膜电位 (MMP) 和 Bax 表达，导致细胞内钙离子浓度及 Bcl-2 表达的升高。Torulene (10-30 μM, 24 h) 剂量依赖性显著降低 LNCaP 细胞中 AR 和 PSA 蛋白与 mRNA 的表达。
体内活性Torulene (9 和 18 mg/kg, p.o., 持续2周) 显著抑制了荷瘤裸鼠前列腺肿瘤的生长，其效果可能与诱导肿瘤细胞凋亡有关。
