c(RGDfV) is an effective cell adhesion inhibitor, a cyclic peptide composed of five amino acids that inhibits tumor cell adhesion to laminin and vitronectin substrates. Studies in rats provided the first evidence of its utility in improving ischemic acute renal failure. c(RGDfV) also inhibits renal tubular obstruction by blocking intercellular adhesion, and experiments have shown that the cyclic peptide c(RGDfV) can also be used to prevent retinal neovascularization. Additionally, c(RGDfV) binds to the avb3 receptor.
