Uroguanylin-15 (Rat) is a cyclic polypeptide composed of 15 amino acids, with two pairs of disulfide bonds in its sequence. Uroguanylin is a natriuretic peptide and a hormone that regulates renal sodium excretion when excessive sodium chloride is consumed. Uroguanylin and guanylin are related peptides that activate the common guanylyl cyclase signaling molecule in the gut and kidneys. Uroguanylin was isolated from urine and the duodenum, but not detected in extracts of the rat colon. Uroguanylin-15 (Rat) is a rat-derived uroguanylin polypeptide.
