Frovocimab (development code LY3015014) is an investigational, humanized immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4) monoclonal antibody developed for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia to reduce cardiovascular risk. It functions as a proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) inhibitor. By binding with high affinity to circulating PCSK9, frovocimab neutralizes its activity, preventing PCSK9 from binding to the low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) on the surface of liver cells. This blockade inhibits PCSK9-mediated degradation of the LDLR, allowing more receptors to recycle back to the hepatocyte surface.
