Peptide YY (13-36) (canine, mouse, pork, rat) is a peptide fragment of casein, consisting of 24 amino acids. The C-terminus of the peptide chain is blocked by an amide bond, and the C-terminus fragment shows inhibition of sympathetic nerve endings releasing norepinephrine. Therefore, this peptide simulates the effects of PYY and NPY on presynaptic (Y) receptors. This peptide can also compete with NPY for almost all binding sites in the rat brain.
