The NXF1 (Nuclear RNA Export Factor 1) antibody is a tool used to study the NXF1 protein, a critical component of the mRNA export machinery in eukaryotic cells. NXF1. also known as TAP (Tip-associated protein), forms a heterodimer with p15 (NXT1) to mediate the transport of mature mRNA from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This process is essential for gene expression, as it ensures proper delivery of mRNA to ribosomes for translation. NXF1 recognizes mRNA through interactions with splicing factors and adaptor proteins, enabling selective export of processed transcripts while retaining unspliced or aberrant RNAs in the nucleus.

Antibodies targeting NXF1 are widely used in research to investigate its role in mRNA export dynamics, cellular stress responses, and viral infections (e.g., HIV-1. which hijacks NXF1 for viral RNA export). They are also employed in studies of cancer biology, as dysregulation of NXF1 has been linked to tumor progression and metastasis in certain malignancies. These antibodies are validated for applications such as Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunoprecipitation, often using cell lines or tissue samples. Commercial NXF1 antibodies are typically raised in hosts like rabbits or mice, with clones validated for specificity via knockdown or knockout controls. Understanding NXF1 function through antibody-based assays contributes to insights into post-transcriptional gene regulation and potential therapeutic targets.
