FKBP51 (FK506-binding protein 51) is a member of the immunophilin protein family, primarily recognized for its role in regulating steroid hormone receptor signaling, stress responses, and protein folding. It functions as a cochaperone in the Hsp90 (heat shock protein 90) complex, influencing the activity of glucocorticoid receptors (GR) and other nuclear receptors. Dysregulation of FKBP51 has been implicated in stress-related disorders (e.g., depression, anxiety), metabolic syndromes, neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., Alzheimer’s), and chronic pain. Its overexpression is linked to glucocorticoid resistance and pathological tau aggregation.

FKBP51 antibodies are essential tools for studying its expression, localization, and interactions in cells and tissues. These antibodies enable detection via techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence, aiding research into FKBP51’s mechanistic roles in disease.
