VPS24. also known as CHMP3 (Charged Multivesicular Body Protein 3), plays a critical role in membrane remodeling processes, including multivesicular body (MVB) formation, cytokinesis, and viral budding. It facilitates the sorting of ubiquitinated cargo proteins into intraluminal vesicles of MVBs, which is essential for lysosomal degradation, receptor downregulation, and exosome biogenesis.
