The ENT2 antibody is designed to detect equilibrative nucleoside transporter 2 (ENT2. also known as SLC29A2), a member of the solute carrier 29 family. ENT2 is a ubiquitously expressed transmembrane protein that facilitates bidirectional transport of nucleosides and nucleobases across cell membranes, depending on concentration gradients. It plays a critical role in cellular nucleoside homeostasis, nucleotide synthesis, and the uptake of nucleoside-derived antiviral or anticancer drugs (e.g., gemcitabine). Unlike ENT1. which is sensitive to inhibition by nanomolar concentrations of nitrobenzylthioinosine (NBMPR), ENT2 is NBMPR-insensitive and exhibits broader substrate specificity, including transporting deoxyribonucleosides.

ENT2 is highly expressed in tissues such as skeletal muscle, heart, brain, and placenta. Its dysfunction has been linked to pathologies like mitochondrial disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and chemotherapy resistance. Research on ENT2 often focuses on its role in drug transport efficiency, cellular energy metabolism, and neurological protection.

The ENT2 antibody is widely used in Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence to study protein localization, expression levels, and regulatory mechanisms under physiological or pathological conditions.
