UCP1 (Uncoupling Protein 1) and UCP3 (Uncoupling Protein 3) are mitochondrial membrane proteins involved in thermogenesis and energy metabolism. UCP1. primarily expressed in brown adipose tissue (BAT), uncouples oxidative phosphorylation from ATP production, dissipating energy as heat—a process critical for non-shivering thermogenesis. UCP3. found in skeletal muscle and BAT, shares structural homology with UCP1 but has distinct roles, including fatty acid metabolism, reactive oxygen species regulation, and potential thermogenic functions under specific conditions. Antibodies targeting UCP1 and UCP3 are essential tools for studying their expression, localization, and regulatory mechanisms in metabolic tissues.

These antibodies are widely used in techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF) to investigate their roles in obesity, diabetes, and metabolic disorders.
