Histone H2B is one of the five major histone proteins (H2A, H2B, H3. H4. and H1) that play a central role in chromatin structure and epigenetic regulation. As a core component of nucleosomes, H2B forms a dimer with H2A, which wraps DNA around the histone octamer (two each of H2A, H2B, H3. and H4) to compact genetic material into higher-order structures. Beyond its structural role, H2B undergoes post-translational modifications (e.g., phosphorylation, ubiquitination, acetylation) that regulate chromatin dynamics, DNA repair, and transcriptional activity. For example, H2B ubiquitination is implicated in DNA damage response and transcriptional elongation.

Antibodies targeting Histone H2B are essential tools for studying these processes. They enable the detection and localization of H2B in techniques like Western blotting, immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry (IHC), and chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP).
