The NSMCE1 antibody targets the NSMCE1 protein (also known as NSE1), a critical subunit of the SMC5/6 (Structural Maintenance of Chromosomes 5/6) complex. This evolutionarily conserved complex plays essential roles in maintaining genomic stability, including DNA repair, replication fork restart, and chromosome segregation. Specifically, NSMCE1 contributes to the E3 ubiquitin ligase activity of the SMC5/6 complex, facilitating post-translational modifications required for DNA damage response and homologous recombination repair. Dysregulation of NSMCE1 has been linked to genomic instability disorders and cancer progression.
