     IHC-P analysis of skin tissue by KRT3 antibody (P15040) IHC-P was performed using sections of the formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded skin tissue;Result: Epithelial cells, sebaceous glandular cells and sweat glandular cells are positively stained at the cytoplasm and membrane.    

  
  

Keratin 3 (KRT3), a member of the type II keratin family, is a structural protein critical for maintaining the integrity of epithelial cells. It pairs with type I keratin KRT12 to form intermediate filaments, which provide mechanical support to cells in the stratified squamous epithelium of the cornea. KRT3 is predominantly expressed in corneal epithelial cells, where its interaction with KRT12 ensures tissue resilience and transparency.

Antibodies targeting KRT3 are essential tools in studying corneal biology and pathology. They are widely used in immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and Western blotting to detect KRT3 expression patterns in normal and diseased tissues. Research has linked mutations in the *KRT3* gene to Meesmann’s epithelial corneal dystrophy (MECD), a rare hereditary disorder characterized by fragile corneal epithelium, microcysts, and visual impairment.
