The TEKT5 antibody targets TEKTIN5. a member of the tektin family of filamentous proteins critical for maintaining structural integrity in cilia, flagella, and centrosomes. Tektins, including TEKT5. are evolutionarily conserved and share homology with intermediate filament proteins. TEKT5 is specifically expressed in germ cells and localizes to the manchette, a transient microtubule-based structure essential for sperm head shaping during spermatogenesis. Its role in sperm development has linked TEKT5 mutations or dysregulation to male infertility in both humans and animal models. Additionally, TEKT5 has been implicated in ciliary function and mitotic spindle organization, suggesting broader cellular roles beyond reproduction.

TEKT5 antibodies are widely used in reproductive biology research to study sperm maturation, flagellar assembly, and germ cell-specific molecular mechanisms. These antibodies enable detection of TEKT5 expression patterns via techniques like immunohistochemistry, Western blotting, and immunofluorescence. Commercially available TEKT5 antibodies are typically raised against specific epitopes, often in rabbits or mice, with validation in model organisms such as mice and rats. Recent studies also explore TEKT5's potential involvement in cancer, as abnormal expression has been observed in certain tumors. However, its precise oncogenic mechanisms remain under investigation.
