The NIPSNAP1 antibody is a tool used to detect the NIPSNAP1 protein, a member of the "nipsnap" (4-nitrophenylphosphatase domain and non-neuronal SNAP25-like protein) family. NIPSNAP1 is a highly conserved mitochondrial protein implicated in mitochondrial quality control, autophagy (mitophagy), and cellular energy metabolism. Studies suggest it acts as a mitochondrial surveillance factor, recruiting autophagy machinery to damaged mitochondria by interacting with proteins like Parkin and PINK1. which are critical in Parkinson’s disease pathways. Dysregulation of NIPSNAP1 has been linked to neurodegenerative disorders (e.g., Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s) and cancers (e.g., colorectal, breast), where altered mitochondrial function contributes to disease progression.

NIPSNAP1 antibodies are widely used in research to study protein expression, localization, and interactions via techniques like Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry. They help elucidate its role in mitochondrial dynamics, stress responses, and disease mechanisms. Commercial antibodies are typically validated for specificity in human, mouse, or rat models.
