The IRGC (Immunoregulatory Gene Complex) antibody is associated with studies focusing on immune regulation and autoimmune diseases. Initially identified in genomic research, the IRGC locus, located within the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) region on chromosome 6. encodes proteins involved in modulating immune responses. Antibodies targeting IRGC-related proteins have emerged as tools to investigate their role in autoimmune conditions like multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and type 1 diabetes.

Research suggests IRGC proteins interact with T-cell receptors and antigen-presenting cells, influencing inflammatory pathways. IRGC antibodies are primarily used in experimental settings to block or activate these interactions, helping elucidate mechanisms of immune tolerance and dysregulation. Their therapeutic potential is being explored, particularly in autoimmune disorders where immune overactivation drives pathology.
