The POLR2L antibody targets a subunit of RNA polymerase II (RNAP II), a critical enzyme responsible for synthesizing messenger RNA in eukaryotic cells. POLR2L, also known as RPB7. is a conserved core component of RNAP II and plays a role in transcription initiation and elongation. It interacts with other polymerase subunits to stabilize the enzyme complex and may participate in regulating transcription-coupled processes, such as DNA repair or mRNA capping.

Antibodies against POLR2L are widely used in research to study RNAP II assembly, transcriptional regulation, and cellular responses to stress or DNA damage. They are employed in techniques like Western blotting, immunofluorescence (IF), and immunoprecipitation (IP) to assess POLR2L expression, localization, and protein-protein interactions. These antibodies are often produced in rabbits or mice using recombinant POLR2L protein fragments as immunogens.

POLR2L's involvement in transcription makes it a focus in cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, and viral infection studies, where RNAP II dysfunction is implicated. Researchers also use POLR2L antibodies as loading controls in experiments due to its stable expression across cell types.
