CNTN5 (Contactin-5), a member of the immunoglobulin (Ig) superfamily of cell adhesion molecules, plays critical roles in neuronal development, synaptic organization, and neural network formation. It is predominantly expressed in the central and peripheral nervous systems, where it mediates cell-cell interactions through homophilic or heterophilic binding, often partnering with receptor-type tyrosine phosphatases like PTPRG.
