CITED1 (CBP/p300-interacting transactivator with ED-rich tail 1) is a transcriptional co-regulator involved in modulating gene expression during development and cellular differentiation. It interacts with transcriptional coactivators CBP/p300. influencing the assembly of transcriptional complexes. CITED1 is notably expressed in embryonic tissues, playing roles in kidney development, mammary gland morphogenesis, and melanocyte biology. Its activity is linked to key signaling pathways, including Wnt/β-catenin and HIF-1α, where it either enhances or represses target gene transcription depending on cellular context.

In research, CITED1 antibodies are widely used to study its expression patterns and functional roles. Immunohistochemical studies highlight its tissue-specific expression, such as in nephron progenitor cells during kidney development or in subsets of breast cancers. CITED1 has emerged as a biomarker in certain pathologies; for example, it is overexpressed in Wilms' tumor and some breast carcinomas, correlating with clinical outcomes. Antibodies against CITED1 enable detection via techniques like Western blot, immunofluorescence, and flow cytometry, aiding in mechanistic studies of its dual roles in development and oncogenesis.
