The CALML6 antibody is designed to detect CALML6 (Calmodulin-Like Protein 6), a member of the calmodulin family involved in calcium-mediated signaling pathways. CALML6. encoded by the *CALML6* gene on human chromosome 1p36.13. shares structural homology with calmodulin, containing EF-hand calcium-binding domains critical for interacting with target proteins. Unlike ubiquitously expressed calmodulin, CALML6 exhibits tissue-specific expression, notably in the skin, prostate, and kidney, suggesting specialized roles in these tissues. Studies indicate its involvement in regulating epidermal differentiation, cell proliferation, and apoptosis, with potential implications in skin disorders or cancers.

CALML6 antibodies are primarily used in research to investigate its expression patterns, subcellular localization, and molecular interactions. They enable techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence, aiding in the exploration of CALML6's functional roles. For instance, studies using these antibodies have linked CALML6 overexpression to tumor suppression in certain cancers, while reduced levels correlate with poor differentiation in skin squamous cell carcinoma. However, its precise mechanisms remain under investigation, partly due to functional redundancy within the calmodulin family.
