ENKUR (Enkurin) is a protein encoded by the *ENKUR* gene, primarily recognized for its role in sperm function and ion channel regulation. It was initially identified as a component of the sperm's calcium signaling machinery, where it interacts with transient receptor potential (TRP) ion channels, particularly TRPC (canonical) subtypes, to modulate intracellular calcium levels critical for sperm motility, capacitation, and the acrosome reaction. Structurally, ENKUR contains an N-terminal myristoylation site and a coiled-coil domain, facilitating its localization to the sperm's principal piece and involvement in calcium-dependent signaling pathways.

ENKUR antibodies are essential tools in reproductive biology research, enabling the detection and characterization of ENKUR expression in sperm and other tissues. Studies using these antibodies have elucidated ENKUR's interaction with ion channels and its potential involvement in male infertility. For example, reduced ENKUR expression or mutations have been linked to impaired sperm function in both human and animal models.
