**Background of VPS36 Antibody**

VPS36 (Vacuolar Protein Sorting 36) is a key component of the ESCRT-II (Endosomal Sorting Complex Required for Transport II) complex, which plays a critical role in cellular membrane trafficking, endosomal sorting, and the formation of multivesicular bodies (MVBs). The ESCRT machinery, including ESCRT-II, facilitates the sorting of ubiquitinated membrane proteins into intraluminal vesicles (ILVs) of MVBs, a process essential for lysosomal degradation, receptor downregulation, and viral budding.

VPS36 contributes to ESCRT-II assembly by binding to ubiquitinated cargo via its GLUE (GRAM-Like Ubiquitin-binding in Eap45) domain, bridging interactions with ESCRT-I and ESCRT-III complexes. It also links ESCRT-II to the endosomal membrane, ensuring proper cargo recognition and vesicle formation. Dysregulation of VPS36 or ESCRT-II function is implicated in neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, and impaired viral release.

Antibodies targeting VPS36 are essential tools for studying its expression, localization, and interactions in cellular pathways.
