The LRRC23 (Leucine-Rich Repeat-Containing 23) protein is a member of the leucine-rich repeat (LRR) superfamily, characterized by repetitive structural motifs involved in protein-protein interactions, cellular signaling, and immune responses. LRRC23 is primarily expressed in the testis and is associated with sperm development and function. It has been implicated in the assembly and regulation of the sperm fibrous sheath, a structure critical for sperm motility. Additionally, LRRC23 may play a role in cilia-related processes, linking it to respiratory and reproductive health. Dysregulation of LRRC23 has been explored in studies on male infertility and ciliopathies.
