The KLHL4 antibody is a research tool used to detect Kelch-like protein 4 (KLHL4), a member of the KLHL family of proteins characterized by conserved BTB (Bric-a-brac, Tramtrack, and Broad Complex), BACK (BTB and C-terminal Kelch), and Kelch-repeat domains. KLHL4 is implicated in substrate recognition for Cullin 3 (CUL3)-based E3 ubiquitin ligase complexes, which regulate protein ubiquitination and degradation. Although its precise biological roles remain under investigation, KLHL4 is thought to participate in cellular processes such as cytoskeletal organization, signal transduction, and possibly tumorigenesis, with emerging links to cancers (e.g., glioblastoma) and neurological disorders.

KLHL4 antibodies are typically polyclonal or monoclonal reagents validated for applications like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF). Their development is challenged by protein homology within the KLHL family and potential isoform variability due to alternative splicing. Researchers must verify antibody specificity using controls like KLHL4-knockout cells or siRNA-mediated knockdown.
