The ALPK2 (Alpha-Protein Kinase 2) antibody is a tool used to study the ALPK2 protein, a member of the alpha-kinase family involved in diverse cellular processes. ALPK2 is implicated in signal transduction pathways regulating cell motility, differentiation, and organ development, particularly in cardiac and skeletal tissues. It phosphorylates target proteins at alpha-positions of serine residues, a unique enzymatic feature of alpha-kinases. Dysregulation of ALPK2 has been linked to human diseases, including cardiomyopathies and certain cancers, though its exact pathogenic mechanisms remain under investigation.

The antibody is essential for detecting ALPK2 expression in tissues or cultured cells via techniques like Western blotting, immunofluorescence, or immunohistochemistry. Researchers utilize it to explore ALPK2's subcellular localization, interaction partners, and role in disease models. Some studies suggest ALPK2 may influence TGF-β signaling and ciliary function, connecting it to ciliopathies. Commercial ALPK2 antibodies are typically raised in rabbits or mice using recombinant protein fragments, with validation including knockout cell line controls.
