The KCND1 antibody targets the potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily D member 1 (KCND1), which encodes the Kv4.1 protein, a key component of voltage-gated A-type potassium channels. These channels are critical for regulating action potential repolarization and excitability in excitable cells, particularly in the heart and brain. Kv4.1 channels contribute to transient outward potassium currents (I_to) in cardiac myocytes, influencing early phase repolarization, and modulate A-type currents in neurons, affecting synaptic plasticity and firing patterns. Dysregulation of KCND1 expression or function has been linked to cardiac arrhythmias, such as Brugada syndrome, and neurological disorders.

KCND1 antibodies are essential tools for studying the distribution, expression levels, and functional roles of Kv4.1 in tissues and disease models. They are commonly used in techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence to validate protein presence, localization, and alterations under pathological conditions.
