The INPPL1 gene encodes the inositol polyphosphate phosphatase-like 1 protein, also known as SH2-containing inositol 5'-phosphatase 2 (SHIP2). This protein belongs to the inositol polyphosphate 5-phosphatase family, which regulates cellular signaling by hydrolyzing phosphatidylinositol (3.4.5)-trisphosphate (PIP3) to phosphatidylinositol (3.4)-bisphosphate (PI(3.4)P2). SHIP2 plays a critical role in modulating insulin signaling, receptor tyrosine kinase pathways, and other processes linked to cell growth, survival, and metabolic homeostasis. Its activity impacts downstream effectors like AKT/PKB and MAPK, influencing glucose uptake, apoptosis, and cytoskeletal organization.

INPPL1 antibodies are widely used in research to detect SHIP2 expression, localization, and interactions in various tissues and disease models. Dysregulation of SHIP2 has been implicated in insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and cancer, making these antibodies valuable tools for studying metabolic disorders and oncogenesis.
