The CIB1 (Calcium and Integrin Binding protein 1) antibody is a tool used to study the multifunctional protein CIB1. which plays roles in calcium signaling, cell migration, and apoptosis. CIB1. also termed KIP or calmyrin, contains EF-hand calcium-binding domains and interacts with various partners, including integrin αIIbβ3. PAK1. and DNA-PK, linking it to cellular processes like platelet activation, DNA repair, and cytoskeletal dynamics. Research highlights its involvement in cancer progression (e.g., breast cancer, glioblastoma), cardiovascular disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases, where altered CIB1 expression correlates with pathological mechanisms.

CIB1 antibodies are essential for detecting protein expression, localization, and interaction networks via techniques like Western blot, immunofluorescence, and co-immunoprecipitation. They are available as monoclonal or polyclonal variants from species like rabbit or mouse, with specificity validated for human, mouse, or rat samples. Studies using CIB1 antibodies have revealed its nuclear-cytoplasmic shuttling, calcium-dependent conformational changes, and regulatory roles in tumor metastasis or neuronal survival. However, cross-reactivity with homologous proteins (e.g., CIB2) requires careful validation.
