The IRAG2 (Inositol 1.4.5-Triphosphate Receptor-Associated GTPase 2) protein, also known as MRVI1 (Murine Retrovirus Integration Site 1 Homolog), is a GTPase implicated in cellular signaling pathways. It interacts with the inositol 1.4.5-triphosphate receptor (IP3R), a key regulator of calcium release from the endoplasmic reticulum, suggesting its role in modulating calcium homeostasis. IRAG2 is encoded by the MRVI1 gene and is structurally related to IRAG1. another IP3R-associated protein involved in nitric oxide/cGMP-dependent signaling. While IRAG1 is well-characterized in vascular smooth muscle contraction, IRAG2's precise functional mechanisms remain less understood, though it is hypothesized to influence phosphoinositide signaling and intracellular calcium dynamics.

Antibodies targeting IRAG2 are primarily used as research tools to investigate its expression, localization, and interaction partners. Studies suggest IRAG2 may contribute to pathological conditions, including cancer progression and cardiovascular diseases, due to its regulatory effects on cell proliferation and apoptosis. Commercial IRAG2 antibodies are typically validated for applications like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence, aiding in elucidating its tissue-specific roles.
