The NPR1 (Non-Expresser of PR Genes 1) antibody is a crucial tool for studying plant immune responses, particularly in the model organism *Arabidopsis thaliana*. NPR1 is a central regulatory protein in systemic acquired resistance (SAR), a long-lasting defense mechanism activated by pathogens. It functions as a salicylic acid (SA) receptor, mediating SA-dependent signaling to induce pathogenesis-related (PR) genes. Structurally, NPR1 contains ankyrin repeats and a BTB/POZ domain, facilitating protein-protein interactions.

Researchers developed NPR1 antibodies to investigate its localization, expression dynamics, and interaction partners. These antibodies enable detection of NPR1 via techniques like Western blot, immunoprecipitation, and immunohistochemistry. Studies using NPR1 antibodies revealed its redox-sensitive nuclear translocation and role in coordinating defense responses with growth processes.
