It plays a role in regulating intracellular trafficking, exocytosis, and calcium signaling, potentially influencing synaptic transmission and vesicle dynamics. Studies suggest PALMD interacts with proteins involved in membrane fusion, such as syntaxins, and may modulate pathways linked to cardiovascular function and neurodegeneration. Dysregulation of PALMD has been implicated in pathologies like dilated cardiomyopathy and Alzheimer’s disease.
