EIF3G (eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 subunit G) is a critical component of the eukaryotic initiation factor 3 (eIF3) complex, which plays a central role in initiating protein synthesis by facilitating ribosome assembly and mRNA recruitment during translation. As part of the multi-subunit eIF3 complex, EIF3G contributes to stabilizing the interaction between the 40S ribosomal subunit and initiator tRNA, as well as regulating the scanning and selection of start codons. The eIF3 complex is also implicated in post-transcriptional gene regulation, stress responses, and disease pathways, including cancer and viral infection.

Antibodies targeting EIF3G are essential tools for studying its expression, localization, and molecular interactions in both physiological and pathological contexts. These antibodies are widely used in techniques such as Western blotting, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence, and co-immunoprecipitation to investigate eIF3G’s role in translation initiation, its association with other eIF3 subunits, and its potential dysregulation in diseases. For example, studies have linked altered eIF3G expression to tumor progression, viral replication mechanisms, and neurological disorders, making it a biomarker of interest.
