TFB2M (Transcription Factor B2. Mitochondrial) is a nuclear-encoded protein critical for mitochondrial gene expression and function. It plays a key role in mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) transcription and RNA modification. TFB2M forms part of the mitochondrial transcription complex alongside mitochondrial RNA polymerase (POLRMT) and transcription factor A (TFAM). It facilitates promoter recognition and stabilizes the initiation of mtDNA transcription. Additionally, TFB2M is involved in ribosomal RNA (rRNA) methylation, contributing to the assembly and function of mitochondrial ribosomes, essential for oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) and cellular energy production.

Antibodies targeting TFB2M are vital tools for studying mitochondrial biology, particularly in contexts like mitochondrial disorders, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases. Dysregulation of TFB2M has been linked to impaired mitochondrial respiration, altered metabolism, and apoptosis. In research, TFB2M antibodies enable the detection of protein expression levels via Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, or immunofluorescence, aiding investigations into mitochondrial dysfunction.
