SAV1 (Salvador homolog 1) is a key regulatory protein in the Hippo signaling pathway, a conserved signaling network critical for controlling organ size, tissue homeostasis, and tumor suppression. It functions as a scaffolding protein that facilitates interactions between kinases MST1/2 (Mammalian Ste20-like kinases) and LATS1/2 (Large Tumor Suppressor kinases), thereby promoting phosphorylation cascades that ultimately inhibit the transcriptional co-activators YAP (Yes-associated protein) and TAZ (Transcriptional co-activator with PDZ-binding motif). Dysregulation of SAV1 or the Hippo pathway is implicated in cancer, organomegaly, and regenerative disorders.

SAV1 antibodies are essential tools for studying Hippo pathway dynamics, enabling detection of SAV1 expression, localization, and interaction partners in various experimental models.
