The ELF5 antibody is a crucial tool in studying the E74-like factor 5 (ELF5), a member of the Ets transcription factor family. ELF5 plays pivotal roles in embryonic development, tissue differentiation, and cancer biology. It is particularly implicated in mammary gland development, where it regulates luminal epithelial cell differentiation and lactation. In cancer research, ELF5 exhibits dual roles depending on context: it acts as a tumor suppressor in estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) breast cancers by repressing EMT (epithelial-mesenchymal transition) and metastasis, yet promotes aggressiveness in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Dysregulation of ELF5 is also linked to prostate, ovarian, and endometrial cancers.

ELF5 antibodies enable detection and quantification of ELF5 protein expression in tissues or cell lines via techniques like immunohistochemistry (IHC), Western blotting, and immunofluorescence. These antibodies help investigate ELF5's transcriptional regulatory mechanisms, its interaction with co-factors (e.g., DNA, other proteins), and its clinical relevance as a biomarker for cancer prognosis or therapy response.
