HYI antibody is a research tool designed to target hydroxypyruvate isomerase (HYI), an enzyme encoded by the *HYI* gene in humans. HYI plays a critical role in the pentose phosphate pathway, particularly in catalyzing the isomerization of hydroxypyruvate to tartronate semialdehyde, a step essential for carbohydrate metabolism and cellular redox balance. Dysregulation of HYI has been implicated in metabolic disorders and rare genetic conditions like primary hyperoxaluria type 3. where mutations in *HYI* disrupt glyoxylate metabolism, leading to excessive oxalate production and kidney damage.
