The DCTPP1 (dCTP pyrophosphatase 1) antibody is a tool used to study the DCTPP1 protein, a nucleotidase involved in maintaining genomic stability. DCTPP1. also known as MTH2. hydrolyzes excess dCTP into dCMP and inorganic pyrophosphate, preventing dCTP misincorporation during DNA synthesis and repair. This enzyme belongs to the histidine phosphatase superfamily and plays a critical role in nucleotide pool balance, particularly in response to oxidative stress or DNA damage.

Research on DCTPP1 has linked it to cancer biology due to its dysregulation in various tumors. Overexpression of DCTPP1 has been observed in certain cancers, where it may promote cell proliferation and chemoresistance by modulating nucleotide metabolism. Conversely, reduced DCTPP1 levels correlate with increased mutagenesis and genomic instability. Antibodies against DCTPP1 are widely employed in techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence to quantify protein expression, assess subcellular localization (primarily nuclear), and investigate its interaction partners. These studies aim to clarify DCTPP1's dual role as a potential oncogenic driver and genome guardian, informing therapeutic strategies targeting nucleotide metabolism pathways in cancer and other diseases involving DNA repair defects.
