The KIAA0513 antibody targets the protein product of the KIAA0513 gene, a less characterized gene initially identified through large-scale sequencing projects. KIAA0513. also known as HASPIN (haploid germ cell-specific nuclear protein kinase), encodes a serine/threonine kinase implicated in cell cycle regulation, particularly during mitosis. It phosphorylates histone H3 at Thr3 (H3T3ph), a modification critical for chromosome alignment and segregation by recruiting Aurora kinase B to centromeres. This kinase activity also interacts with pathways involving Polo-like kinases and cyclin-dependent kinases.

KIAA0513 antibodies are widely used in research to study its expression, localization, and function in mitotic progression, meiosis, and cellular proliferation. These antibodies are typically developed in rabbits or mice, using immunogens derived from recombinant protein fragments or synthetic peptides. Validation methods include Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunoprecipitation, often in models like human cell lines (HeLa, HEK293) or mouse tissues.

Dysregulation of KIAA0513/HASPIN is linked to genomic instability, cancer progression, and infertility, making its antibody a tool for exploring oncogenesis and reproductive biology.
