The NEGR1 (Neuronal Growth Regulator 1) antibody is a tool used to detect the NEGR1 protein, a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored cell adhesion molecule belonging to the immunoglobulin (Ig) superfamily. NEGR1 is highly expressed in the central nervous system and plays roles in neurite outgrowth, synaptic plasticity, and neural network formation. It is implicated in neurodevelopmental processes and has been linked to obesity and neuropsychiatric disorders, such as depression and schizophrenia, through genome-wide association studies (GWAS). The antibody enables researchers to study NEGR1's localization, expression levels, and interactions in tissues or cell models. Common applications include Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA. Both monoclonal and polyclonal NEGR1 antibodies are available, often validated for specificity using knockout controls or siRNA-mediated knockdown.
