The MTHFS (5-formyltetrahydrofolate cyclo-ligase) antibody is a research tool used to study the enzyme encoded by the *MTHFS* gene, which plays a critical role in folate-mediated one-carbon metabolism. This ATP-dependent enzyme catalyzes the conversion of 5-formyltetrahydrofolate (5-FTHF) to 5.10-methenyltetrahydrofolate, a reaction essential for maintaining the balance of folate derivatives required for nucleotide synthesis, methylation reactions, and redox defense. Dysregulation of MTHFS has been implicated in various pathologies, including cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and cardiovascular diseases, making it a target for mechanistic and therapeutic studies.
