MPZL1 (Myelin Protein Zero-like 1), also known as PZR, is a transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. It shares structural homology with Myelin Protein Zero (MPZ), a key component of peripheral nerve myelin. MPZL1 is widely expressed in various tissues, including the liver, breast, and immune cells, and plays roles in cell adhesion, signaling, and immune regulation. Studies suggest its involvement in modulating receptor tyrosine phosphatase activity, particularly interacting with SHP-2 to influence downstream pathways like MAPK/ERK, which are critical for cell proliferation and differentiation.

MPZL1 antibodies are essential tools for investigating its biological functions and disease associations. Research highlights its dual role in cancer: MPZL1 overexpression correlates with poor prognosis in hepatocellular carcinoma and breast cancer, promoting tumor growth and metastasis, while acting as a tumor suppressor in certain contexts.
