The RSU1 (Ras suppressor protein 1) antibody is a tool used to study the RSU1 protein, a conserved regulator of cell adhesion and migration. Initially identified as a suppressor of Ras-dependent oncogenic transformation, RSU1 interacts with the integrin-mediated signaling pathway by binding to PINCH1 (Particularly Interesting Cys-His-rich protein 1), a component of the integrin-linked kinase (ILK) complex. This interaction links extracellular matrix (ECM) signals to cytoskeletal dynamics, influencing cell spreading, motility, and survival. RSU1’s role in modulating focal adhesion formation and actin cytoskeleton organization highlights its importance in developmental processes, tissue homeostasis, and cancer metastasis.

Research using RSU1 antibodies has revealed its involvement in pathologies such as cancer, where altered RSU1 expression correlates with tumor progression and invasion. For example, reduced RSU1 levels are associated with increased metastasis in breast cancer and melanoma. The antibody is widely employed in techniques like Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry to detect RSU1 localization and expression patterns in cell lines and tissue samples. Recent studies also explore its potential as a biomarker or therapeutic target. By elucidating RSU1’s regulatory mechanisms in ECM signaling, this antibody aids in understanding cellular responses to mechanical cues and disease pathways, bridging basic cell biology with clinical applications.
