EXO5 antibody targets the EXO5 protein, a key enzyme in the DNA repair pathway known as nucleotide excision repair (NER). EXO5. or exonuclease 5. is a structure-specific endonuclease conserved across eukaryotes, including humans. It plays a critical role in processing DNA intermediates during NER, particularly in excising damaged DNA strands caused by UV-induced lesions or chemical adducts. Studies suggest EXO5 interacts with other NER components, such as XPG and XPF-ERCC1. to ensure precise cleavage of DNA lesions, maintaining genomic stability. Its dual nuclease activity—acting on both 3' and 5' overhangs—distinguishes it from other repair enzymes.

Research on EXO5 antibodies has advanced understanding of its functional mechanisms and cellular localization. These antibodies are widely used in techniques like Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunoprecipitation to study EXO5 expression, regulation, and involvement in DNA damage response. Dysregulation of EXO5 has been linked to genomic instability and diseases like xeroderma pigmentosum (XP), a condition tied to defective NER. Recent work also explores its potential role in replication stress and cancer biology. By enabling precise detection of EXO5. these antibodies support investigations into DNA repair pathways, offering insights for therapeutic strategies targeting repair-deficient cancers or genetic disorders.
