DCPS (Decapping Enzyme, Scavenger) is a conserved RNA-processing enzyme that catalyzes the cleavage of the residual cap structure (m⁷GDP) following mRNA degradation, playing a critical role in regulating RNA turnover and cellular RNA homeostasis. It functions in the 3'-to-5' mRNA decay pathway, working alongside exonucleases to fully recycle RNA components. DCPS is implicated in diverse cellular processes, including gene expression control, stress response, and development, with dysregulation linked to diseases such as cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and developmental abnormalities.

DCPS antibodies are essential tools for studying its expression, localization, and molecular interactions. They enable researchers to investigate DCPS's role in RNA metabolism through techniques like Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunoprecipitation. Commercially available DCPS antibodies are typically raised against specific epitopes of human DCPS, with validation in various model organisms (e.g., mice, zebrafish) supporting cross-species research. Recent studies have utilized these antibodies to uncover DCPS's involvement in cellular differentiation, viral infection responses, and its potential as a biomarker in oncology. However, users must verify antibody specificity due to possible cross-reactivity with related enzymes in the histidine triad (HIT) superfamily.
