The CYP4X1 antibody targets the cytochrome P450 4X1 enzyme, a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily involved in lipid metabolism and xenobiotic detoxification. CYP4X1 is a less-characterized isoform, first identified in the early 2000s, and is known for its role in hydroxylation reactions, particularly in metabolizing fatty acids, prostaglandins, and potentially endogenous signaling molecules. It is expressed in various tissues, including the brain, liver, lung, and vascular endothelium, suggesting involvement in both physiological and pathological processes. Research highlights its potential link to cerebrovascular function, angiogenesis, and cancer progression, with studies indicating altered expression in glioblastoma, pulmonary hypertension, and metabolic disorders.

The CYP4X1 antibody is primarily used in research to study the enzyme's localization, expression levels, and mechanistic roles. It aids in detecting CYP4X1 via techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF). Despite its emerging significance, CYP4X1's exact substrates and regulatory pathways remain under investigation. Antibody specificity is critical due to high homology among CYP4 family members.
