The CIAO1 (Cytosolic Iron-Sulfur Assembly Component 1) antibody is a tool used to study the CIAO1 protein, a key player in the cytosolic iron-sulfur cluster (Fe-S) assembly pathway. Fe-S clusters are essential cofactors for numerous enzymes involved in DNA repair, redox reactions, and metabolic processes. CIAO1. part of the multi-protein CIA complex, facilitates the maturation and transfer of Fe-S clusters to target apoproteins in the cytosol and nucleus.

Research on CIAO1 has gained attention due to its role in maintaining genomic stability and cellular iron homeostasis. Dysregulation of Fe-S biogenesis is linked to diseases such as cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and anemia. The CIAO1 antibody enables detection and quantification of CIAO1 expression in various experimental setups, including Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry. It has been particularly useful in studies exploring DNA damage response mechanisms, mitochondrial dysfunction, and cancer biology, where altered Fe-S cluster metabolism may drive disease progression.

Commercial CIAO1 antibodies are typically raised against specific epitopes of human CIAO1. with validation in multiple cell lines and tissues. Researchers rely on this reagent to investigate how CIAO1 interacts with other Fe-S assembly components (e.g., CIA2B, MMS19) or client proteins, offering insights into cellular adaptation to oxidative stress or iron scarcity. Its applications extend to both basic research and clinical studies aiming to dissect Fe-S-related pathologies.
